My Key West Guide
If you've never been to Florida, it's actually a pretty cool state. Between Miami, Key West, Marathon, and more, every little borough is a new adventure. Last month, I traveled to Los Angeles, and Austin, and finished my trip in Florida with my boyfriend. We rented a car and drive from Fort Lauderdale, down to Key West, and ended the trip in Miami. Watch my video below for a fun recap!
We stayed at the Banana Bay Resort in Marathon, Florida. Tucked away on the way to Key West is Marathon, Florida, which is a town with pretty much nothing besides Publix and a few fish shops. Surprisingly, that's all I wanted for my trip. We wanted to escape to somewhere that didn't have tons of social media and fancy buildings, and Marathon was the place.
I got up every morning, went for a run, and stopped by the fruit market next to the hotel to get some fresh coconut water and mango. Ummm, that's basically my form of heaven. We spent time in the pool and the hot tub, and walked along the docks at night. The resort was so secluded and relaxing, and I loved that there weren't any crazy spring break kids.
Marathon is only one hour away from Key West, so we drove down to the island two days in a row. Key West is definitely more built up, with lots of tourists and activities. The place was PACKED everyday! One night, we were lucky enough to watch the sunset go down at the Bistro 245 Restaurant at the Margaritaville Hotel. This place is going down in my books as one of the prettiest places in the world. We feasted on delicious fish, tasty quinoa, and even ended with some Key Lime pie! I thought going to Key West would make me like Key Lime pie, but I still hate it. My boyfriend loved it, though! You can see below how stunning the sunset was. I've never seen anything like it. I picture it every morning when I wake up!
