A Stop Along the Way; Circa, D.C.
Boy, do I love food. I love food just as much as I love traveling around the globe. The great thing about my career is I occasionally get to do both travel and eat. Because I'm probably the only person you know that goes on TV and also eats waffles 4 days of the week, I continue to post features on my favorite restaurants around the country. I hope that when you travel, you'll be inspired to check out some of my favorite hotspots too!
While I was in Washington, one of my good friends Alix (hi if you're reading this!!) and I headed to CIRCA in Dupont Circle for dinner. I had been to CIRCA once before for lunch, but never dinner, so I was excited to finally try this restaurant in its prime.
Our waiter was so knowledgable on everything, and advised us on what to eat and drink. My friend ordered the sangria, and we ordered the tuna poke, calamari, and beet salad for appetizers The beet salad was perfect, and the goat cheese was creamy but not overwhelming. The tuna poke reminded me of Sugarfish in Cali; that's how fresh this fish was!
For entrees; Alix chose the salmon salad and I went with the chicken. My chicken came with a rich, indulgent brown butter sauce that literally changed my life. I've only ever made brown butter paleo brownies, so having real brown butter on crispy, tender chicken was absolutely unreal. I'm still dreaming of that chicken.
We were unfortunately WAY too full from our 30 courses to order dessert, even though I seriously wanted to try the nutella trifle. I guess I just have another excuse to head back to this city very soon.
Thank you, CIRCA and Metropolitan Hospitality Group for letting us come in and devour your tasty food!
