A Stop Along the Way: Barcelona, West Hartford
Connecticut is not usually famous for its food scene, but Barcelona restaurant is definitely a major hotspot. After asking around for a place to enjoy some good ethnic food, I decided to go to Barcelona in West Hartford, cT. On a sunny fall day, with the front open to let the fresh air in, Barcelona had a warm open feel that they managed to capture in the food as well.
The decor sets Barcelona apart both from most restaurants featuring Spanish tapas cuisine and from its neighbors in West Hartford. The interior feels like a fancy restaurant in the heart of Barcelona, with dim lighting, catchy music, and an amped up atmosphere.
My server was quick and attentive, and knowledgable enough to describe the ordering process for us in detail.
We tried everything from a selection of fresh cheeses and meats, to the incredible chorizo and figs (my favorite dish on the planet) and some unreal desserts, like churros and some parfait. They also had a delicious fruit salad and fresh cream dish, which is unusual because most places don't offer a simple and healthy dessert like Barcelona.
If you're looking for a fantastic night on the town, head to West Hartford and spend the night eating and mingling away at Barcelona.
