On my last visit to NYC (for all of 24 hours) I had a chance to try out a new juice bar, Pure Green. After spending an entire month parading around Europe eating all the cheese, bread, and chocolate I came into contact with, some green juice sounded like a pretty good idea.
I met with Nikki, who invited me in for a testing of everything on the menu. With several locations across the city, I ended up at their most popular one on 33rd Street between Madison and Park Avenue. Upon entering, Nikki greeted me with the most passionate and exuberant smile: I knew she was about to stuff me full with every item Pure Green had to offer!
We began with a few ginger shots while she explained her mission behind the company. Finding that NYC offered no juice bar that was truly "organic" (meaning unpasteurized, and just greens and fruit) she had to enlist to make her own joint. Then came Pure Green. With over 4 locations across NYC, I was inspired by a little story becoming a success story.
I almost DIED over their unreal smoothies: banana nut was by far my favorite one. Made with all gluten-free vegan ingredients, it's a perfect post-workout alternative that will satisfy your cravings. Even the watermelon juice was as fresh as watermelon juice could get, and the ginger shots upped my immunity (I felt it!)
If you're really hungry, don't pass up the filling acai bowl: make sure you add homemade almond/ cashew butter on top for a protein boost! What's better than silky acai topped with creamy, slightly sweet nut butter....
