London. Austin. Istanbul. Three of my favorite cities on the entire globe. But my #1 desired destination after New York City? Boston. Since I'm living in the Big Apple at the moment, the trek to Boston is a decent 4.5 hour bus ride, but that isn't going to deter me from heading to Boston every chance I can.
Boston is quirky in its own way. Compared to London and NYC, Boston "turns off" around 10 PM. Most of the events and restaurants go to sleep at that time, giving you a suburban atmosphere in a huge city. On my multiple prior trips, I stayed with Omni and Hyatt, though this time, I stayed at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge. I previously stayed with Sonesta in Houston, so was expecting another fantastic stay. I was right on point.
After heading to the Fairmont Copley for brunch on Saturday, I checked in to the hotel around 3 PM. They surprised me with lots of cheese, grapes, honey, and bread in my room, which I snacked on after a quick trip to the hotel gym. The most memorable part of my weekend was brunch at the Fairmont: it was nothing short of entirely chic sophistication. I ate fluffy buttermilk pancakes with vanilla butter and blueberry compote along with smoked salmon next to the fireplace in the giant dining room. Filled with bottles of expensive champagne and huge cozy red chairs, I wish I lived at this hotel.
This weekend was nothing short of indulgent food, amazing company, and a really, really comfortable hotel bed.
