Happy Friday! It's been an INSANE past week, with Fashion Week beginning on Monday and a schedule more full than one person should probably encounter in one month, but in one week. On Wednesday, I attended the FIT and Carolina Herrera benefit luncheon at the David Koch center at Lincoln Center. One moment I was photographing Martha Stewart and Renee Zellweger on the red carpet, and the next moment I found myself sitting alongside Ivanka Trump and Anna Wintour, eating lobster salad with only New York's finest elite. I networked, sipped on *water* while everyone else sipped on champagne and rose before noon, and got a glimpse into what the rest of my week was going to look like.
Houghton was one of the first shows I attended yesterday at Milk Studios to kick off NYFW. OITNB and 90210 celebs were seated next to me in the front row, as we listened to upbeat music by Charlie XCX pound through the speakers. I'm a huge fan of this brand, and absolutely adored this season. Rich blues, plaid oversized shirts and dresses, and Birkenstocks rolled down the catwalk at an insanely fast pace. What attracts me season after season to Houghton is how wearable the clothing is. I can't vouch for Birkenstocks as the latest (or most fashionable shoe) to hit the catwalk, though I approve a designer attempting to bring a classic style back around. Even if it doesn't work this season, we can all nod our heads in disapproval or approval of a designer being just a little bit different.
Give every teenage girl that oversized blue shirt! You don't often see black as a frequently used color in Spring collections, though I anticipate seeing how people transform these looks to real life in a few months, because who doesn't want to be rocking lace as the leaves begin to change?
My first encounter with Anna Wintour over roasted carrots + pesto and lobster salad. I can't decide whether seeing her in person or getting free roasted carrots and pesto is better.
With the lovely and talented Ivanka Trump at the FIT + Carolina Herrera luncheon at Lincoln Center.
Stay tuned for more NYFW coverage, coming up this week!
