I invite you to come along for a fashionably fierce and insane ride.

The Turkish Way

This beautiful carpet was handmade by an artisan in Turkey. We visited a huge factory of just carpets: the sight was surreal. People were dropping $1000s of dollars on beautiful carpets and having them shipped all across the world, but this beauty stood out to me the minute it touched the floor. I will have it forever!

Silk!

Along with the massive studio of carpets, the front of the building was solely for the women (yes, only women) that make the incredible creations. They spend 3 hours at a time with their bare hands sewing away…and the task is not an easy one.

Since I run a predominantly fashion blog, I thought it would be cool for you to see how fashion and design works in other parts of the world. I took a tour of a carpet factory in Turkey (Tory Burch  visited too!!) and saw  how carpets and silk is manufactured. This is no China run mass manufacturer: inside the factory are women that spend hours per day hand creating these carpets with bare hands. I can't even begin to explain how much thought goes into every carpet, and how genuinely kind the sewers were. Many people would say that these women are lower-level working people, but once you see them hands on at their job, your mind will change. I've never seen people work so hard (and for such little pay) that my heart broke a little, wishing I could give extra money to every one of the women, just for being inspiring and incredible with what they chose as a career.

Everyday my heart yearns to be back in the adventurous, underestimated and thrilling country of Turkey, and my regular greek yogurt for breakfast is nothing like my Turkish yogurt with fresh figs, apricots, pistachios, and honey!!

Have a great Sunday :)
