Something about snow during winter in CT is magical. There are too many roads to count that I've actually never driven down in my town (including this one) and every one is a little bit different than the last. Yes, lots and lots of trees, but the snow and bright blue sky today was enough to have me comfortable enough to want to lie on the
grass snow and watch the stars. If only it wasn't 30 degrees out.
My dad surprised me for my birthday and got me a few Free People items, but for a guy, (apparently) shopping for girls isn't easy, and he bought the only 2 items in the store I would actually never wear. I love FP, don't get me wrong, but some of their stuff is so incredibly overpriced for what the clothing is worth, that spending $50 on a pair of leggings and $14 on one pair of socks is a bit far fetched. I dragged my best friend (who happens to be a guy as well) into my local Free People store to see what else we could find that was a little more my style than what my dad picked (thanks anyway dad!!!) and these chord overalls almost had me drooling. I've previously mentioned on my blog how incredible FP thermals are, but instead of spending the money on another thermal, being different and opting for these chords seemed just right. The versatile charcoal grey color matches basically every top in my closet, and throwing on my extra warm thermal with another flannel is the perfect outfit. Effortless, yet edgy and fancy.
I finally had time to feature this beautiful handmade bag by an incredible company, Happy Hemp, based out of CA. A while ago the owner, Tara, and myself had a pretty long phone chat, and she told me about her inspiration behind her whole company (known for hemp seeds, which is a fabulous superfood that I love and eat religiously, read more here) but more importantly, how important it is to take care of your body, with the outside and the inside. Hemp is one of the most eco friendly fabrics on the planet, and this tote is HUGE enough to carry my camera, wallet and everything else inside! Plus, the design is trendy, and nothing feels better than supporting small companies and ones that give back to the environment.
