I went to the John Rocha runway show during LFW at Somerset House. I had previously heard of John Rocha in various different fashion experiences, sometimes in NYC, but never witnessed any items from the brand or knew anything about the designer. I did know he is one of the most talked about and coveted London designers, though still expected to witness my average fashion show. After previewing his new collection firsthand, consider me Mr. Rocha’s biggest fan. The models wore some of the most elaborate clothing seen at LFW, reminiscent of previous seasons of Alexander McQueen, and each look coincided perfectly with the previous one. Every seat inside the studio was taken!
Would most people were ridiculously huge red flower looking hats (what do I even call them?) on their head? Eh, not likely. However, John Rocha gives the fashion industry a glimpse of what fashion is about. The long lines waiting to get into the shows, stressing over planning your schedule weeks in advance, deciding what to wear…you can say fashion week is the most stressful time of the year. Once the crowd sat down to watch the models walk down the runway at this show, all those hours spent planning outfits and schedules faded into the back of our minds. A designer that finally has the courage to take a risk and put looks on the runway that aren’t necessarily RTW but are incredibly unique, drastic, and appealing, is what fashion is defined as.
Evening activités of bread pudding, gluten-free chocolate cake, and hot chocolate.
I had never tried bread pudding before my trips to London and Miami, but after being recommended by my English mom to try the dessert, I went for it one evening. I wasn’t completely in love- it was somewhat bland, but the textures were enough to keep me eating. Definitely a must-have if you’re in London! Bread pudding is a specialty overseas.
