I celebrated my birthday Sunday with brunch at Grant’s in West Hartford with friends + family, and it was a great 16th birthday to remember. My actual birthday is today (ah!) but I love having a reason to dress up for brunch. I’ve had these AG pants in my closet for about a year now that I got on sale at Anthro for $30 from $200 and finally found the perfect day to wear them. The velvet polka dot print isn’t obnoxious but quite subtle and classy. After experimenting with a few different trench coats and pairs of shoes, my classic combat boots and edgy leather jacket made sense. These pants could be dressed up with a frilly black top and sexy red jacket, but since my style is edgier, I went to my roots and paired the pants with what I know best.
I’m going to spend the rest of my birthday eating pizza, my gluten-free cake, drinking pumpkin spice lattes, and just being happy I’m alive and healthy. I can’t imagine where I would be without my supportive parents at this point in my life, and they have supported me for the (majority) of my career. Being 16 comes with a new realm of responsibility that I can’t say I’m exactly prepared for. My parents aren’t too happy with the idea of me driving, so worrying about getting a car isn’t something important to me right now. Being legal feels weird to say the least. Am I still allowed to make mistakes and regret them? The rest of my life is ahead of me, and I’m learning to live in the moment because I’ve wasted too much time worrying about what hasn’t happened and focusing on what is going to happen. I can’t worry about tomorrow or next week: all I can think about is today and this moment.
P.S. I picked my giveaway winner and emailed you! Thanks for entering!

Happy belated birthday! Those printed pants are quite a statement. I feature lots of mixed prints on my blog as well.
