A Stop Along the Way: Delmonico's, NYC

Tuna Tartare

The inside of Delmonico's, which is quite spacious yet intimate. The feel is very old world.

My steak was cooked perfectly, and is the best steak I have ever had in my entire life. How was I vegan for 2 years?

What I was expecting to be mashed potatoes came as a giant broiled potato, which I wasn't a fan of, but the beautiful plates made for a fabulous picture.

On todays segment of A Stop Along the Way, we venture to the best and freshest cut of meat in NYC, as recommended  by the Bill Clinton. Delmonico's  is officially my favorite restaurant in NYC, for steak and dessert, that is. This was a completely different experience than my regular restaurant stop, since Delmonico's  is quite the pricey and fancy restaurant. I walked in in my "Homies" beanie and was requested to remove the hat and put it with the coat check (yup, that type of restaurant) which wasn't an issue for me. Something that always makes a meal 100% compared to 10% is the waiter. Ours was incredibly *French* as well as so knowledge, eager to feed us the best food in the city, and willing to answer every question we had about the food. If you've been to a more high-end restaurant before, you are probably used to snotty waiters, even snottier guests, and a pretentious vibe. Not here. The crowd was most definitely older and more experienced (come here for your business dinner) but also quiet and reserved.

Most pricey restaurants don't offer the extensive choices that Delmonico's  offers, from the type of steak to type of side you want. Opt for mac and cheese as your side if you're looking for a carb OD, or opt for the roasted brussels or potatoes for a "lighter" fare. Simple sophistication. Hardest part of the evening? Choosing dessert. Our darling waiter suggested the baked alaska, which I had never tried prior, since I figured I was going to be eating a country not a dessert. Much to my geographical surprise, baked alaska is absolutely fantastic and tastes 10x better than any map could make it look. We also opted for the tiramisu, which was more casual and not as unique as the baked alaska, but you know me, I can never say no to a fantastic rich chocolate dessert.

  2. Dress was perfect for my daughter. She loved it. She got it for her aunt's wedding coming up. I couldn't wait after placing the order as I was worried about the fit and length of the dress.
